Creatinine Measurement Market is Segmented By Product (Reagents, Kits), By Type of Sample (Blood/serum, Urine), By Method (Jaffe’s kinetic method, Enzymatic method), By End-User (Hospitals, Diagnostic laboratories, Others), By Region (North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa) – Share, Size, Outlook, and Opportunity Analysis, 2023-2030

Creatinine Measurement Market Overview

Creatinine measurement market size was valued and growing at a CAGR of 12.3% during the forecast period (2023-2030).

Muscle contractions in the human body produce creatinine. The kidneys' glomeruli extract creatinine from the blood and excrete it in the urine. The creatinine test is a sensitive diagnostic for determining the kidney's glomerular filtration rate. As a result, the creatinine test is widely used to assess renal function. Direct and automation-ready procedures for monitoring creatinine content in biological samples are gaining prominence in research and drug development.

Creatinine Measurement Market Dynamics

Technological advancement in the detection of creatinine is expected to drive market growth.

A singlemode fiber-multicore fiber-multimode fiber-singlemode fiber (SMFMCF-MMF-SMF)-based biosensor construction that detects creatinine in the human body is simple, portable, and sensitive. To generate strong evanescent waves, chemical etching was employed to reduce the diameter of the sensing probe to 90 m. (EWs). Graphene oxide (GO), gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), molybdenum disulfide nanoparticles (MoS2-NPs), and the creatininase (CA) enzyme are used to functionalize the sensor probe. Fiber optic localized surface plasmon resonance assesses creatinine concentration (LSPR). Two-dimensional (2D) materials (GO and MoS2-NPs) are utilized to promote biocompatibility, and CA is used to increase probe specificity, while EWs are employed to enhance the LSPR impact of AuNPs.

Additionally, HR-TEM and UV-visible spectroscopy are also used to analyze and evaluate nanoparticles' shape and absorption spectra (NPs). The NPs adsorbed on the surface of the fiber probe are characterized using SEM. The sensor probe's reusability, repeatability, stability, selectivity, and pH test findings are also examined to ensure sensor performance. The suggested sensor has a sensitivity of 0.0025 nm/M, a standard deviation of 0.107, and a limit of 128.4 m over a linear detection range of 0 - 2000 m over a linear detection range of 0 - 2000 m. Thus, the market is expected to drive in the forecast period from the above statements.

Restraint:

Lack of predictive value provided by creatinine measurement techniques, presence and availability of global brands and the impediments they face due to big or scarce competition from local and domestic brands, the impact of domestic tariffs, and trade routes, healthcare professionals turning their attention to novel renal dysfunction biomarkers and stringent regulatory policies are some factors the market is expected to get hampered in the forecast period.

COVID-19 Impact Analysis

The COVID-19 pandemic has moderately impacted healthcare systems and the market. Most of the symptoms linked to the new coronavirus pandemic have been respiratory illnesses ranging in severity from mild to life-threatening. However, due to the virus's kidney tropism, COVID-19 patients are increasingly displaying indicators of kidney damage, such as minor proteinuria, hematuria, acute kidney injury, or high creatinine levels, which could increase demand for creatinine measurement solutions. More than 40% of individuals hospitalized because of COVID-19 had kidney dysfunction. Furthermore, because persons with established kidney and other chronic illnesses have weakened immune systems, they are more susceptible to infection, making renal health a top issue. In response to these concerns, many guidelines, such as the IFFC Guide on COVID-19, advocate measuring creatinine in COVID-19 patients to detect potential kidney impairment early.

Additionally, the pandemic is interrupting the supply chain, and many companies will vary to other geographic regions in the future to ensure that products remain available and protect their supply chain. Thus, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the market. However, the situation is expected to improve gradually in the forecast period.

Creatinine Measurement Market Segment Analysis

Jaffe’s Kinetic Method segment is expected to hold the largest market share in creatinine measurement market

The jaffe's kinetic method segment is expected to dominate in 2020. The segment's growth benefits because it is the oldest and most widely used method for determining creatinine levels in clinical samples. The chemicals and kits used in Jaffe's kinetic technique are widely available and cost-effective. For instance, The measurement range of the Randox Jaffe Creatinine Assay is 16–2448mol/l, allowing for easy detection of clinically significant results. For convenience and ease of use, it is offered in a liquid ready-to-use version. Furthermore, it offers applications that specify instrument-specific settings for using the Randox Jaffe creatinine assay on a range of clinical chemistry analyzers. Thus, the market segment is expected to hold the largest market share in the forecast period from the above statements.

Creatinine Measurement Market Geographical Analysis

North America region holds the largest market share in the global creatinine measurement market

In 2020, North America accounted for the highest revenue share. The increasing prevalence of kidney disorders, availability of well-developed healthcare infrastructure, rising awareness about preventive healthcare and the adoption of testing in the region are some factors the market is expected to boost in the forecast period. For instance, according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects nearly one-seventh of all adults in the United States or 37 million people. CKD risk is much higher for Americans with diabetes or high blood pressure, the two most frequent causes of kidney disease. Kidney disease affects nearly one-third of diabetics and one-fifth of those with high blood pressure. Heart disease and a family history of renal failure are two more risk factors for kidney disease.

Even though kidney illness is common in the United States, 9 out of 10 people with the disease are unaware of it. Moreover, Early-stage kidney disease normally has no symptoms, and many individuals aren't aware they have it until it's too late. Kidney disease generally worsens over time, leading to kidney failure and other health issues, including stroke or heart attack. End-stage kidney disease (ESKD) is a kind of renal failure treated with a kidney transplant or dialysis. Therefore, it has increased the demand for creatinine measurement kits and reagents. Thus, the North American region is expected to hold the largest market share in the forecast period.
