For the transportation of liquefied gas, cryogenic trailer-type tanks are also employed. These are meant to maintain the liquid and cool state of the gas.

However, the heat eventually degrades the tanks. The LNG evaporating inside the tanks creates vapor, sometimes called boil-off gas. As a result of this procedure, the pressure inside the tanks increases. Thus, to release pressure from LNG tanks, boil-off gas can be re-liquified.
