Waterborne diseases are caused by a variety of microorganisms, biotoxins, and toxic contaminants, which lead to devastating illnesses such as cholera, schistosomiasis, and other gastrointestinal problems. Communities, especially in the developing world, face elevated disease burdens from waterborne diseases.  For instance, According to the WHO, around 1.1 billion people worldwide do not have access to improved water supply sources; whereas, 2.4 billion people do not have access to any type of improved sanitation facilities. Every year more than 3.4 million people die, as a result of water-related diseases, making it the leading cause of morbidity and mortality around the world. Water treatment processes can easily control waterborne disease transmission and reduce the number of cases of these diseases to an acceptable level. Of late, water pollution limits the availability of clean water, further exacerbating scarcity. In various countries, wastewater is not adequately treated before being channeled back into the water cycle. These countries, therefore, have to cope with the negative impacts of water pollution on human health and the environment. According to the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), about 2.5 billion people worldwide have no access to adequate sanitation. The situation is particularly critical in Africa, Southeast /Central Asia, and parts of South America. This, in turn, is driving the adoption of mobile water treatment systems, and thereby accelerating the growth of the very market across the world.

Wastewater treatment has created astounding opportunities in developing countries such as China, India, and Brazil. For instance in India from the Asia-Pacific region around 26 percent of domestic and 60 percent of industrial wastewater is treated. This has created a huge opportunity for the mobile water treatment systems in this region over the forecast period. Further growing the development of the compact, portable, reliable mobile water treatment products and solutions by the leading players has created a huge opportunity for the growth of this market. For instance, in May 2020, the Company Veolia Water Technologies launched a single pass reverse osmosis (RO) and continuous electro deionization (CEDI) system named TERION S, which is a standard single-skid unit to produce high-grade deionized water for laboratory, power, and general industrial applications. This new product was developed in-house by the company’s internal manufacturing and global logistics platform.

Further growing investment by the leading players for sustainable water treatment solutions as well as raising the government funding for the safe drinking water supply have created a huge opportunity for this market. For instance, on 29th July 2019, the Municipality of Dubai had been launched an industrial wastewater treatment plant. The plant has utilized the latest advanced technology like Artificial Intelligence and IoT to treat 600 cubic meters of liquid waste per day. Further growing partnerships, mergers, and acquisition activities for the installation of mobile water treatment plants all over the world have created a huge opportunity for this market. For instance on 27th Jan 2020, the Companies HECS Private Ltd., had been collaborated with Daiki Axis Company, to launch a Japanese technology-based packaged sewage treatment plant named ‘Johkasou’.

On Dec 11, 2019, the Company SUEZ have expanded its ultrafiltration Global Membrane Manufacturing Center of Excellence in Oroszlány, Hungary with an investment of around USD 35 million. The plant consist of advanced technology ZeeWeed 500 technology require in industrial and municipal wastewater treatment facilities. The ZeeWeed technology consists of a hollow-fiber ultrafiltration membrane that can separate particles, bacteria, and viruses from water, and can be used this water for drinking water, and water reuse applications. Further on 31st Jan 2020, Talbot launched an innovative mobile mine water treatment & recovery unit. This uses the vibrating Sheer Enhanced Process (VSEP) technology, a solution developed by US company New Logic Research Inc that enables to treats highly contaminated and difficult water streams from the mining and mineral resources players. It can also facilitate highly efficient and cost-effective water treatment and mineral product recovery solution
