Increasing Incidence Of Hematologic Diseases

Hematologic diseases have shifted a global health issue with different causes and are correlated with high mortality. Blood disorders, such as blood cancers, anemia, hemorrhagic conditions, and infections in the blood affect millions of people every year across all ages.

According to the Commonwealth of Australia 2018, more than 330,000 affected infants are born each year (83% sickle cell disorders and 17% thalassemia), around 7% of pregnant women are carriers of hemoglobin disorders, and over 1% of couples are at risk level.

According to the World Federation of Hemophilia, in 2019, the prevalence of hemophilia between men was around 17 per 100,000 males globally. Additionally, the number of people classified with hemophilia grew from 78,629 in 1999 to 210,454 in 2018.

Similarly, according to the Global Hemophilia Care 2019 report, more than 1,125,000 men around the world have an inherited bleeding disorder, and 418,000 of those have an extreme version of the most undiagnosed disease.

As per the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, every three minutes, a person in the United States is diagnosed with blood cancer. About 176,200 people in the United States were diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma in 2019.

Moreover, In the United States, several associations are helping both clinicians and scientists across the world who are working to conquer such hematologic diseases.

Early examination and treatment are the best ways to protect the quality of life for a patient with hematologic diseases. Hence, the increasing burden of hematologic diseases is likely to drive the market in the future.

Technological Advancements In Hematology Analyzers

The players active in the hematology analyzers and reagents market are highly competitive and have introduced novel products and reagents in the past. For instance, in May 2020, Beckman Coulter introduced DxH 690T hematology analyzer in the US to streamline workflow and reduce downtime in medium-sized laboratories.

Besides, in August 2020, IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. launched a ProCyte One Hematology Analyzer to help deliver workflows with ease and accuracy at the point of treatment.

The company also confirmed plans for the global roll-out of this product by early 2021.Besides, Sysmex unveiled an automated XN-L hematology analyzer in the US in July 2017.

Later in September 2018, XS-500ix was also released on the Chinese market; the latest device is an automated hematology analyzer of the XS series.

Also, Agappe Diagnostics, in partnership with L&T Technology Services Limited, launched the first indigenous hematology analyzer, Mispa Count X, in September 2020.

In December 2019, Beckman Coulter subsidiary Danaher Corporation launched the new DxH 690T hematology analyzer. Designed to help laboratories streamline workflow and maximize uptime.

The introduction of such new products is boosting the growth of the market for hematology analyzers and reagents.

The advancements in the technology are creating numerous opportunities for expansion of the market.

In the past two years, numerous new products and technologies have emerged on the market, all of which consent to change the traditional understanding of laboratory hematology workflow and standards.

Globally, due to growing product development, small entrepreneurial corner manufacturers and large multinational companies have launched products on display to provide unique solutions to growing customer needs.

Beckman Coulter maintains its rich legacy of discovery to address changing market needs. The company recently delivered smaller, fully integrated analyzers, such as the DxH 500, DxH 520 and DxH 900. These products have been continuously perfected with direct input from customers and offer many innovations that improve workflow, uptime and staff satisfaction.

Such customer-centric design practices, long common in consumer-goods industries, have been slowly filtering to the field of laboratory diagnostics, where, traditionally, the focus has been solely on improving technology and measuring progress.

Revolutionary improvements in electronics, computing, and manufacturing, along with continuous innovation in biotechnology, fluidics and mechanics, have led to a decrease in the size of analyzers.

Progress beyond the field of hematology results in more tools and techniques for hematological analysis. Recently, Beckman Coulter launched the Aquios flow cytometer, fully automating the typically laborious sample preparation process for fluorescent cell analysis.
