One of the main drivers identified in the hot melt adhesives market is the increasing commercial and passenger vehicle production. According to OICA statistics, India's commercial vehicle production increased from 747,681 units in 2015 to 8,92,682 units in 2019. Besides, the production of passenger cars increased from  3,378,063 units in 2015 to 3,623,335 units in 2019. Countries such as India, China, and Indonesia have undergone rapid economic growth, characterized by rising per capita and disposable income. Increasing purchasing power of individuals and changing transportation preferences have driven compact and medium passenger cars in India. Car manufacturers increasingly rely on hot melt adhesives in assembling due to their superior bonding characteristics over all other adhesive types. Thermoplastic rubbers are cheaper than other polymer-based hot melt adhesives and enhance automobiles' energy efficiency by reducing the weight. New production facilities in Saudi Arabia are expected to provide opportunities for the market players in the automotive adhesives market. The country has been the largest importer of cars in the region and is highly consuming hot melts in the automotive aftermarket services. However, the increasing sales and growth potential is motivating Asian and European automakers towards establishing production plants in the country. As of 2019, domestic production is highly limited to heavy commercial vehicles with the likes of Isuzu, Mercedes, Volvo, and Man SE

The other segment includes polyurethane and polyester-based hot melt adhesives that find a wide range of automotive industry applications. 

Polyurethane hot melts are increasingly used in the production of automotive interior panels. Besides, PU hot-melt adhesives can be used during the manufacturing of car seats, for fixing cables in the roof liner, to bond door sill protectors, and other plastic parts. They can also be used to bond emblems, as well as anchor plates onto gear knobs. Even at low temperatures, these hot melts prove to be flexible and tend not too brittle. The adhesive bead cuts off cleanly without stringing, therefore avoiding the decor area's contamination when the hot melt is applied robotically. These adhesive systems are also more frequently used for lamination applications. The adhesive can be applied economically with new application technology.  Moreover, hot-melt PURs are used in road atlases on the back shelf of a car, as they can withstand extreme temperatures.
